Name:
Jackrabbit.
"But that's not a name" you protest. The response is always "That's the only one you're getting."
Nickname:
Jack. Not 'Jackie', not 'Bunny', Jack.
Pronouns:
Responds to any, but uses she/her in self-reference.
Gender:
"Yes." [Female, likely won't clarify]
Occupation:
Angel hunter / Self-proclaimed historian
Age:
26 [ DOB. March 9 ]
Height:
5'3" [ 160 cm ]
Weight:
101.9 lbs [ 46 kg ] without prosthetic limbs, 135 lbs [ 61 kg ] with them.
Appearance:
[anime trash doodle]
Some notes:
- American-Chilean, doesn't have particularly deep ties to either. Has dark skin and eyes and soft features, giving her a bit of a baby face that makes her look no older than 16 or 17 when coupled with her height.
- She hates this.
- Her hair is sort of an orange-y reddish brown. Her hair's usually a mess and kept in a somewhat disastrous looking pixie cut.
- Dresses for practicality over all things. The only things she doesn't usually switch out are the scarf and goggles, which she uses to protect her eyes and mouth from dust or other things that might hamper her focus when she's flinging stuff around.
- Would be fairly well built with lean muscle, but is missing both arms below the elbow and both legs at uneven lengths just below her thighs (the fleshy portion of her right leg is a bit longer than her left as a result). Compensates for this with a mixture of lightweight metal prosthetic limbs and her power. Would probably say yes if you asked if she was an android.
- Has a number of small moles dotting her cheeks, shoulders, and back.
Powers:
Ferrokinesis - Manipulation type
Jack is able to move, bend, and shape all metallic entities within a 15 ft radius with her mind alone. This has made her an ideal candidate for fighting the angel machines - dismantle a gun barrel or draw the nuts and bolts out of the wheels, and you've ended a fight before it's even had a chance to begin. There are limitations to this, however - Jack can only control what she is able to focus on fully. Thus, stopping fast travelling metal, such as bullets, or trying to rip apart a car moving towards her at 80 mph borders on difficult to beyond her capacities. Similarly, she has to be able to envision what she intends to do with the metal, exactly - while throwing up a wall of steel to serve as a shield or shooting off a rain of shrapnel on an opponent from materials around her is easy, trying to twist the metal to form anything takes a lot of brainpower. She cannot force it to rise to a temperature sufficient to fuse the pieces for extended periods either - so don't expect her to generate a working gun out of the bullets shot at her allies any time soon.
Personality:
Perceived as stubborn, ill tempered, and as hard-hearted as the iron she bends, Jack doesn't put a great deal of effort into making herself appear to be any more of a people person than she already isn't. She says what she pleases and does what she she sees fit, limited only by her personal agenda rather than established regulations. She does, however, share a common goal with many ARU members - while not at all sympathetic towards other people, viewing them and their selfishness as the root cause of humanity being in this situation, she is inclined to support angels and wishes to see them freed from their shackles with their purpose well understood. Her sense of optimism tends to catch people off guard - every time she departs, she does so with the belief that this outing will be the day that they uncover something revolutionary; that today will be the day they find the key to resolving the centuries-long tensions between angels and people. Now, if only she wasn't so blunt...
History:
There's not a whole lot known of Jack's life before her arrival in the walking city. Older members might recall the day she turned up at age 15, surly and covered in mud after narrowly escaping being (as she'd tell it) 'nearly trampled' by one of the legs. Getting questions as to why she'd been out there or where her parents were was nigh impossible, but turning a child with crude, misshapen metal limbs out into the cold proved to be a bit of a moral dilemma for nearly everyone present. Her stubborn attitude would provide little protection from the corrupted angels were she discovered, or something like that.
And so, much in the way that Walker was permitted to exist so long as its black box remained hidden, Jack was allowed to stay until someone who recognized her and could direct her to her family could be located. She felt an odd sort of kinship with the angelic structure the more these two ideas were drilled into her brain, and took to promising Walker before she went to bed every night that she would definitely look for a way to save 'them' from all of those people who would do them harm. So long as she was around, nobody would be allowed to touch their box. And then she'd grow bigger and get someone to make a voice-thingy for Walker, so they could talk all proper-like and people would stop treating them like they were just some kind of machine. These nightly promises started to slow to a halt as she got older and more comfortable in her position, but she's still inclined to think fondly of them, and would be among the first to speak up for Walker's 'rights' should the situation have come to that.
In the meantime, Jack all but devoted her life to the study and release of angels the moment she received a more comfortable set of limbs. While quite vocal about her disapproval for current methodology for dispatching angels (they can't even speak for themselves, how do we know this isn't causing them pain) she often accompanies the scouting parties out in hopes of finding scraps of information on how they were previously crafted. Surely, the process should be able to be reversed, right? If she were someone more charismatic, maybe she would be able to convince some of the others that resources should be turned to studying the matter rather than continuing all this brainless annihilation. Until that day, however, she just turns away or leaves when they find the black boxes. Cowardly, perhaps, but she just tells herself that until she's able to find the means to convince others, it's all she can do.
As far as recent events go, she's not particularly a fan of the politicking between the founding ARU members. One would think she'd be inclined to side with the Grand General, but at large she thinks on the whole that all of them are being sort of ridiculous about this and that their personal infighting should be put aside in favor of focusing on more important things. People die all the time - they have no need to put everyone else through grief for it. Although still worried about Walker in some smaller part of her mind, she's recently started to spend more and more extended periods of time away from the city because of it.
Other:
- Has a bad habit of tearing apart her prosthetic limbs when she needs more material to work with in a pinch. This has lead to a need to have her carried from the battlefield on more than one occasion.
- 'Jackrabbit' was a childhood nickname spurred out of her habit of scrunching her face whenever she didn't like something, which caused her nose to look like it was wiggling. She's kept it as a reminder of simpler times.
